New feathers for all!!!

The molting season has begun. Bunco the lanner falcon is pictured here with the year’s first discard. All of our education birds replace their wing and tail feathers every spring and summer. While this requires a bit of extra food, they are happy to continue flying free and offering interactive animal encounters, conservation education, and free flight entertainment to our falconry school participants and visitors to Torrey Pines Gliderport throughout the molt. Our birds hope to see you at Total Raptor Experience so they can show off their spiffy new school clothes!
